Katharine Harvey – Waterfall 2010 – Ontario Pavilion

Bobby Patmore was recently asked to assist Katharine Harvey with her installation for the Ontario Pavilion at the 2010 Olympics. ‘Waterfall’ was exhibited at Scotiabank Nuit Blanche in 2008 and was the people’s choice recipient. Ontario chose to install Harvey’s creation in the pavilion representing the province to the world.

Katharine Harvey is an installation artist and painter, Her piece ‘Waterfall’ uses plastic waste to represent water. This juxtaposition of the human fascisnation with the grandiose nature of the installation is ironic considering the artist chooses to utilize consumer plastic waste as her medium.

The re-installation of ‘Waterfall 2010′ took 5 days as the artist and the assistants cleaned, and constructed the enormous ‘fall’ using over 150 bags of pastic waste.
